Luc Van Braekel (1958) is an internet entrepreneur and ICT consultant. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science Engineering degree from the University of Leuven, Belgium.

After having worked at the Catholic University of Leuven and at Coopers & Lybrand in Brussels, he pioneered as founder and co-founder of several internet-related companies.

His political and social views are inspired by Ayn Rand, Friedrich von Hayek, Milton Friedman, Ronald Reagan and Robert J. Ringer.

Until recently, Luc Van Braekel was a member of the VLD, the Flemish liberal party. He served as president of the local VLD chapter in his home town between 1995 and 2000.

As an admirer of the American way of life, he likes to spend his vacations in the United States.

He strongly believes in the benefits of free markets, technological innovation,  and the power of the human mind. He likes to read visionary non-fiction books and articles on nanotechnology, space travel, memetics and genetics, and the dubious future of the welfare state.His personal weblog, LVB.net (in Dutch, but with an English section), is described by many as the most influential news-oriented weblog in Belgium.
