Conservative Muslim Forum Investigated by Tories

The Telegraph is reporting that the Conservative Party is investigating its so-called Conservative Muslim Forum. Remarkably, it wasn’t its radical opinions [pdf], its apparent support of Hamas, or even its linking to the website of Ta-Ha publishers, which, as I mentioned last year, is an online bookstore that sells books on sharia, along with the odd conspiracy theory. It has come to the attention of the party that text on the CFM website has been lifted from IslamOnline, founded and co-owned by hate preacher, and terrorism promoter, Yusuf al-Qaradawi.

The Telegraph approached the Conservative Party about an article on charity, found on the site. A spokesman for the party acknowledged that it had been lifted from another website, but said that “they can't tell for sure which one,” even if IslamOnline seemed likely. An article on charity on the site is on several others, though IslamOnline did not come up in a search when I looked. The Telegraph is no doubt correct, however, and perhaps it has been removed from a-Qaradawi’s site since the complaint to the CFM was made.

I checked the other sections on the CFM’s website, and the section on Halal and Haram foods has also been lifted wholesale from IslamOnline. Indeed, alarm bells should perhaps have started ringing earlier, as the article includes this statement: “A note for Muslims in Britain - some fish and chip shops cook their food in pork fat. You shouldn't eat them[…]. Would an organization that is an official part of a British political party include “a note for Muslims in Britain”? Clearly not.

According to the Telegraph, party officials are “trying to contact the man they had employed to create the Conservative Muslim Forum's website to ask why it features chunks of text from IslamOnline.”

Isn’t the real question why, time and again, the CFM to be expressing radical views, and linked, or lending tacit support, to radical organizations?

On the CMF

It is confounding to think that as recently as the last century, it required great courage and fortitude of one’s convictions to be tolerant, much less accept the “other”.  Now, Western civilization has reversed, and acceptance of everyone and everything is demanded of all, save for those perceived to have been victimized by Western intolerance.  Canadian prime ministerial candidates are required to address Sikh assemblies wearing traditional Sikh garb, even if the latter find themselves unable to abide by the simplest and broadest norms of dress.  Soon after his nation suffered a horrendous and unprovoked atrocity, an American president was required to clarify his tolerance for Islam and even argue on its behalf, even though the perpetrators were Muslim and the atrocity was well-received in Muslim countries.  Therefore, it came as no surprise that the British Conservative Party created the CMF, both out of a cynical struggle for votes and a Pavlovian need for multicultural and politically correct “credentials”.

Moderates or no moderates, Muslims in the West are not interested in abandoning their non-Western allegiances.  Muslim “moderates” are only concerned that the actions of their extreme co-religionists do not cause a backlash against them. They aim to manage non-Muslim majorities, not their own criminals.  Note their reactions to the atrocities in New York, London, Madrid, Fort Hood, etc., which consisted of feigned solidarity and attempts to disassociate these atrocities from Islam.  Instead of brainstorming ways to effect Muslim integration, we should be questioning why Muslims are allowed to reside in the West at all.  Do they enrich our culture or society?  Decidedly no: they import barbaric and divisive practices, especially as regards women and non-Muslims in general.  Do they improve our economic competitiveness or growth?  No.  In fact they only exacerbate unemployment and government spending on social programmes.  Do they bring with them any benefits that cannot be found in another immigrant group?  Certainly not; however, they have considerable problems that are rather unique.  All Britons need to temporarily bury the hatchet and “get the buggers out!”
