Genetically Modified Confusion

A very confusing article from EU Business:
The European Commission gave the green light Friday for three genetically modified maize lines to be brought to market in the European Union.
This is all very confusing. Last June, EU officialdom promised the voters of Luxemburg there would be no GMO products in the EU if they voted for that EU constitution. The voters of the Grand Duchy dutifully voted in favor of the document and now find themselves with GMOs on the horizon.
Tsk-tsk. Surely the EU elites doling out promises back in June weren't fibbing to the voters of Luxemburg. Surely not!! Keep placing your faith in government, keep getting more of the same.
