This is the draft EPP manifesto [pdf] that will be adopted this week in Rome, with proposed amendments marked. The European People's Party (EPP) groups the Christian-Democrat parties from the EU member states. Fourteen years ago the British Tories joined the EPP. The draft manifesto contradicts the claims that the EPP is “Centre-Right”, “pro-reform” or “free market”. After 14 years of association, the British Conservatives have not moved the EPP one inch away from their palaeo-federalism. The EPP, on the other hand, has shifted the Conservative MEPs a considerable distance away from the rest of their party in Britain.
