Hackers Target The Brussels Journal
From the desk of The Brussels Journal on Thu, 2007-01-18 13:36
Yesterday and on Tuesday many of you may have attempted in vain to access this website -- the conservative voice of Europe. We are under constant attack by hackers but our webmaster is doing all he can to keep us online.
You are noticed...

If you say anything that pisses people off then you will get hack attacks. It means you are noticed online and if you got the right protection think of it as compliment.

I'm glad that a friend passed your website along to me last year...I hope that you'll be with us for a long time as you're one of the few voices of reason in a crazy world.

Maybe the registered users and readers should consider making a small donation to the BJ so the webmaster can go buy what he needs?
Warning: Scan for Root Kits

I was one of those obliged to contact Mr. Luc Van Braekel to inform him of my recent difficulties when trying to post comments. Suddenly -- from about the 6th January -- they were being rejected by the BJ's server.
In recent months I have detected and removed two Root Kit infections on my hard-drive. I cannot say with any certainty that these arrived on my disk due to communicating with the BJ's ISP Server (as one has to do to post a comment) but it is a possibility.
I therefore advise all BJ registered users to scan for Root Kits on their hard-drives. Commercial software can be easily acquired (at reasonable cost) to do this. For Root Kits, the infection severity level is HIGH.
These days, anyone posting political comments should never log-on to the internet without first connecting through a Firewall. Again, both software and hardware versions are available, in retail, at reasonable cost.
