Police Protection for Dutch Ex-Muslim
From the desk of The Brussels Journal on Tue, 2007-08-07 20:08
A quote from Expatica, 7 August 2007
Ehsan Jami, the chairman of the committee for ex-Muslims [in the Netherlands], will be given extra security. The national anti-terrorism coordinator's office, the public prosecution department and the police decided during a meeting on Monday that "additional measures" are necessary for the protection of the 22-year-old Labour PvdA council member in Leidschendam-Voorburg. [...] The extra measures are being implemented because Jami was attacked and beaten in Voorburg last weekend.

In reaction to Wilders a Dutch lawyer has filed a legal complaint against the MP for "insulting a section of the community"...

"I am fed up with Islam in the Netherlands:no more Muslim immigrants allowed.I am fed up with the worship of Allah and Mohammed in the Netherlands:no more mosques,"he finished his letter.

In Gratitude To Frank Lee

Thank you,Frank Lee...
I don't think anybody failed to notice FL's irony and sarcasm here, certainly not me.The fact is there is only so much serious comment one can make about incidents like this before sarcasm kicks in.
Long live men like Mr Jami and Frank Lee.And just for the record, no,I am NOT being sarcastic on this occasion.
Sarcasm

Um -- I was joking, which I thought was pretty clear. I have no confidence whatever in so-called moderate Muslims and have never heard of one coming to the defense of apostates. When I was in graduate school, the Ayatollah issued his fatwah against Salman Rushdie, and a Moroccon Ph.D. student told me, "He's getting what he deserves." That Moroccon, by the way, is now a tenured professor in the United States. The day that apostates are free to denigrate Islam is the day I start to believe that Islam can adapt to modernity. Fat chance. Long live Mr. Jami, my new hero.
mercy?

I think you've got that wrong. From the 'evidence' it would appear that it was moderates from a mainstream Muslim group who were responsible for this attack.
Quote: [H]e recently told the Dutch paper Trouw,"If Mohammed were alive today,he would be in the same league as Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein...".
That clearly rules out al-Qa'eda sympathizers or former Saddam Baathist supporters who would be delighted to have their man identified with the prophet.Which only leaves mainstream moderates, who would find the association highly offensive.
(I can now see why so many people find conspiracy theories so much fun.Facts only cloud the issue).

What is this apostate complaining about? They didn't kill him; they only beat him. Clearly, Islam IS a religion of mercy. Furthermore, I have complete confidence that the mainstream Muslim groups in the Netherlands loudly condemned the attack and defended the rights of apostates, as Muslim groups so frequently do in these circumstances.

I guess FL's irony and sarcasm went largely unnoticed by the fellow bloggers visiting and posting chez BJ (a lucky abbreviation full of hidden promise!) these days.
Must be all these depressing stories about Turks voting for....hard-working Conservatives?
Please, relax, and read the OP (original posting) again, and then take some time to edit your personal profile(s) at Yahoo (Personals), esp. Ze Line about 'having a great sense of humor'.
