Total Nonsense

A quote from The Scotsman, 13 August 2007
Hospital staff in the Lothians have been told not to eat at their desks to avoid offending Muslim colleagues during Ramadan. NHS Lothian has advised doctors and other health workers not to have working lunches during the 30-day fast, which begins next month.
The health service's Equality and Diversity Officer sent an e-mail to all senior managers, giving guidance on religious tolerance. This includes ensuring Muslim staff are given breaks to pray, and time off to celebrate Eid at the end of Ramadan. It is understood they also advised hospital managers to move food trolleys away from areas where Muslims work. […] But the move has angered many doctors and politicians, who say it is taking religious tolerance too far.
A quote from The Daily Express, 13 August 2007
Bill Aitken, the Scottish Conservative justice spokesman, said: “This advice, well-meaning as it may be, is total nonsense. It is the sort of thing that can stir up resentment rather than result in good relations.” […] But Greater Glasgow and Clyde as well as Lothian NHS boards also issued the advice, warning workers not to take working lunches, and said all vending machines should be removed from areas where Muslims work. […]
The guidance, which was sent round many organisations, was produced by Glasgow consultancy Meem, which advises on Muslim issues and counts the Scottish Parliament among its clients.

Outstanding, I'm setting up a promo. to provide Ham Sandwiches for everyone in the bar! Happy hour from noon to midnight, all weapons will be checked at the door and reissued upon exiting the establishment. Semi-automatic assault rifles will have a complimentary sighting performed and barrels will be punched on receipt at the check in counter.

If Muslims are offended by something they see, then they should pluck their own eyes out. Problem solved.

"If it offends my Muslim colleagus that I'm gay, should I stone myself to death?".
Brilliant! Sounds like a question you could send to 'Dear Abby',perhaps using the nom de plume,"Samson".

It's important not to offend the Muslim NHS Scotland staff. Last time we offended them they almost blew up Glasgow airport!
