A quote from Renate Sommer MEP, Vice-Chairwoman of the Delegation to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee of the European Parliament, 18 September 2007

Islamic law laid down in the Sharia is not compatible with European fundamental rights and standards. The fact that there are different forms of the Sharia does not change anything in this matter.

Europeon Rights?

Yeah I agree. The last draft of the constitution had no guaranteed rights for europeons as far as I could tell. Sharia provides a few basic rights so as far as the EU is concerned they are not compatible.
