Popular Issue

So why have Americans suddenly taken interest in the Vlaams Belang? Events in Europe and the United States have made it hard to ignore the party. Since September 11, the threat of Radical Islam has been one of the most popular issues among conservatives. And in the last few years, opposition to illegal immigration has exploded. A number of books such as Mark Steyn’s Eurabia and Tony Blankley’s The West’s Last Chance have examined the War on terror as a “Clash of Civilizations,” which includes the Islamization of Europe. Terrorist cells found in Europe of even second and third generation immigrants, the murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, and the riots following the publication of pictures of Mohammed in Danish newspapers made many Americans wonder if Europe would be better off with a Muslim majority.
Steyn, best op-ed writer in the Anglosphere

"America Alone" is a an excellent read. I highly recommend it. I first discovered Steyn's writing while living in Germany in 2002. I would regularly pick up a copy of the London Telegraph at the central rail station and enjoyed his opinion pieces. He can make you laugh while contemplating the end of western civilization.

The Steyn book is indeed entitled,"America Alone",and Bat Yeor did write "Eurabia".A third book, not mentioned here, but well worth the read is,"The Legacy of Jihad,Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims",edited by Andrew G. Bostom.

I think "America Alone" is Mr Steyn's book, "Eurabia" would be Bat Yeor? While the problems with Islamic intolerance and terror are obvious I don't hear many Americans wish for Europe to have a Muslim majority. Americans that I know would prefer for Europe to find a backbone and find value in their heritage.
The current trends seem to be moving in a different direction however.
