Landmark Conviction in Italy

A quote from the Italian press agency AKI, 13 November 2007
A Pakistani man in Italy, Mohammed Saleem, and two male relatives, have been sentenced to 30 years in jail in the northern Italian town of Brescia for murdering his daughter, Hina Saleem. […] [T]he Pakistani girl was allegedly killed because she had “dishonoured” her family and refused an arranged marriage. Hina dressed in western clothes, wore make up, worked in a pizzeria in the northern town of Sarezzo and lived with her Italian boyfriend. She was found with her throat slit buried in the garden of her family home with her head facing Mecca in August 2006.
A quote from the Italian press agency Ansa, 13 November 2007
Police in Islamic countries often turn a blind eye to so-called ‘honour killings’ – and they are not always pursued by Western police. There was a landmark conviction in Britain earlier this year, where some 100 homicides are now being treated in the same light.
There have been reports of such killings spreading from Pakistan to Italy – as well as suicides of women forced into marriage.

As an American of Italian extraction, I thought you might be interested in reading the following article by Stephania Lapenna entitled,"Italy's Open Border Problem".Forgive me if you are already familiar with article and the website in question.

These are our laws

" Father Enzo Bianchi said. "We should ask ourselves what is the meaning of reception if we can't give them a house or food." Good father I would be EXTREMELY happy to immigrate to Italy if you would give me a FREE house and FREE food for life. Good father you are so full of BULL s*%$ it is almost unbelievable. My grand parents immigrated over here FROM Italy, (my grand uncle who owned a small bakery sponsored them). They could not speak english and NO ONE helped them (my grand uncle could barely make ends meet). They did not turn to crime. MY grandfather went to work and learned passable english. When my mother did not marry the person my grandfather wanted her to marry he DID NOT kill her. When my mother married a NON Italian (much to my grandfathers horror) he DID NOT kill her. These people are worse than barbarians.
"There is no will to really do something for them, we push them into crime." There should be a LAW, if you do not have a job waiting for you when you get here DO NOT COME! That should cut down on crime. All those who do come, a book on our LAWS should be given to them. These are OUR laws follow them or go back to where you came from, period.

To fully appreciate the lunacy of the European left, one has to read this article, linked right next to the murder and conviction story, as the perfect companion piece:

"There is no will to really do something for them, we push them into crime. We should ask ourselves what is the meaning of reception if we can't give them a house or food."....."There is no will to really do something for them, we push them into crime and this causes xenophobia.".....
.....So says Father Enzo Bianchi, a typical groveling European lefty, still seeking root causes, blaming the natives and refusing to accept the possiblity that all cultures are not equal and immigrants need to be held accountable for their behavior.
This is certainly is a step....

...in the right direction. Even though it's only a 30 year sentence, where as in here in the USA, the perpetrator of a crime like this would receive a life sentence or death if convicted. But this is Europe. The glass is half full. At least there is a conviction. A conviction that tells the world that if you commit a crime like this you will be punished. It tells the world that if you come to our country, you obey the laws of the land, and that any savage behavior that stems from your cultural background, religion and/or belief system will not be tolerated. And to hell with the multi cultural political correctness.....MOLTO BENE ITALIA!
