Tony’s Confession: I’m a Nutter

A quote from Tony Blair in The Daily Telegraph, 26 November 2007
It’s difficult if you talk about religious faith in our political system. If you are in the American political system or others then you can talk about religious faith and people say ‘yes, that's fair enough’ and it is something they respond to quite naturally. You talk about it in our system and, frankly, people do think you’re a nutter.

Amusing isn't that Blair who helped destroy core values has this cheap epiphany into the destruction that the left has wrought.
He's a day late and a dollar short. Hopefully history will see him as the disingenuous jerk that he was.
The elites

It's not that "people" in Europe think you're a nutter for speaking about your faith. "People" in Europe seem to me to be just as interested as Americans are in spirituality in its various forms. It's the ELITES in Europe who think you're a nutter if you speak about your faith, and their power over the electorate and the public more generally is much more extensive than in America. Academics in the United States are just as anti-religious as those in Europe, but the American public is wise enough to ignore the academic elites for the most part.
One last point: Tony Blair is obviously not talking about Muslims. Just wait until the Muslim electorate reaches a tipping point and begins to decide most elections in Europe. I have a feeling the European politicians will start talking openly about their spirituality then. Alas, they will probably be speaking as converts to a faith that is anti-democratic.
