If that’s tough talk then god help France.

That's what I like about the US " Concealed Weapons Permits". A few months go a similar incident happened on a bus in Phoenix, someone pulled a knife on the bus driver before he got stabbed, 2 passengers with CWPs pulled their guns, told the person with the knife he was under citizens arrest and if he tried to flee they would shoot to kill. The police were called and the man was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, attempted armed robbery and numerous other charges. When the citizens are unarmed the criminal has ALL the power, when the citizen are trained and armed it evens the score or in this case the citizens had ALL the power.

What do you expect in France where sociopathic predators when arrested are more likely given social workers than prison time which is also the case in most of Europe.

So where is tough talking Sarkozy in cleaning up the violent crime that's overwhelming France?

Americans have the right to self-protection with a firearm. We aren't treated as needy dependent children who must rely on the inefficient state to protect us. Europeans have no one to blame but themselves that they surrendered to the state their basic right of self-protection.

Reading this reminds me of the  animal world,  where  weakness and vulnerability attract merciless   predators from all directions. For a brief moment in history, it appeared that Western Civilization progressed beyond that, but it now seems to be backsliding into darkness at a frightening pace.

Granted this is but one incident and those with vested interests will attempt mightily to  downplay it as such ,   but it is not  so  bizarre that it can be  dismissed out of hand.     Such barbarity does not strike us as incredible anymore after the long series of 'outrage du jour' reports we've been absorbing in recent times. From 'youths'  terrorizing passengers  on French trains, to the rise  British knife crime and binge drinking ,   mob attacks and rapes on lone individuals,  and the  de facto emergence of 'no-go'  zones, and cars being set alight by the hundreds   there is increasing evidence that  Western civilization has  peaked,  Its societal  trajectory is a return to barbarism. 

Something appears to be going profoundly wrong at a very fundamental level.  It's  absolutely fascinating (morbidly so)   how it corresponds to the turn away from Christianity and the embrace of moral and cultural relativism. The resultant death of discernment coupled with fashionable mass denial and willful ignorance combine to   suggest  things are going to get much, much worse before they get  any better.  This is a recurring Biblical theme playing itself out once again.  There is nothing new in the world. Human nature is what it is.

Time will tell. Just watch.
