A new anti-Semitic attack, reminiscent of the February 2006 murder of Ilan Halimi, has taken place in a suburb of Paris. This version of the event is from Gaelle Mann, based on Le Parisien.

A young Jewish man of 19 was kidnapped and beaten in a garage. The attack occurred on February 22, 2008. The young victim was in captivity for the entire day, held by six aggressors who were arrested last week.
 
Around 10:00 a.m. the young man ran into two acquaintances from the Pablo-Picasso residence. The two knocked him down and demanded he turn over the video camera that he had supposedly stolen from a third companion. The aggressors grabbed their prey and took him to the third accomplice. [...] They also demanded he pay back a debt that he had not contracted. The victim was quickly taken to a garage and in short order three other aggressors joined the group.
 
For two hours the young man was insulted, assaulted, and kicked and beaten. He suffered physical and psychological torture. The gang insulted his Jewishness and wrote “dirty Jew” on his forehead with a white marker. Their cruelty did not stop there. Believing him to be homosexual, they inflicted sordid acts of violence of a sexual nature. On several occasions the gang referred to Youssouf Fofana, the leader of the “gang of barbarians,” now in jail for the torture and murder of a young Jewish boy, Ilan Halimi, in the suburb of Bagneux.

In this case, no ransom was demanded, the owner of the garage, also one of the aggressors, had to leave and refused to leave his keys with his accomplices. The young man was released, and returned home covered with blood. The next day he filed a complaint. The aggressors, all residents of Bagneux, were arrested and charged with “aggravated group assault due to the real or supposed sexual orientation of the victim, and to his adherence to a religion,” “kidnapping by an organized gang,” and “acts of torture or barbarity.”
