A poll for French weekly Economie Matin shows that 47% of French people would favour a return to the franc, and 46 % want to keep the euro. This is the first poll in France to show a majority in favour of returning to the franc. 52% of those asked said they were in favour of the euro when it was introduced, and 39% opposed it. A majority of women (55%), retired people (55%), and those with average or modest salaries (53%) said they favoured a return to the franc. Economie Matin also notes a poll in June which showed that 61% of the French miss the franc, and a poll by German weekly Stern, also in June, which showed that 56% of Germans miss the mark.
