The Cowardice of the 1930s

A quote from Victor Davis Hanson in National Review Online, 4 August 2006

There is no need to mention Europe, an entire continent now returning to the cowardice of the 1930s. Its cartoonists are terrified of offending Muslim sensibilities, so they now portray the Jews as Nazis, secure that no offended Israeli terrorist might chop off their heads. The French foreign minister meets with the Iranians to show solidarity with the terrorists who promise to wipe Israel off the map [...] and manages to outdo Chamberlain at Munich. One wonders only whether the prime catalyst for such French debasement is worry over oil, terrorists, nukes, unassimilated Arab minorities at home, or the old Gallic Jew-hatred.

Your mission is impossible..

"Muslims are less of a problem than Islam itself" is what I myself said pointing to Quran.

In this info age, Miriam Madam has proved with concrete truths and factual evidence, there are indeed people more ignorant than one previously thought.

Secondly, what happens in India impacts everyone even when I limit my visit to India. My plane may be hijacked as one from Nepal was really hijacked by talebans. The tools used by muslimes has had direct implications on my fellow citizens of USA that suffered immense loss in WTC. In fact, the box-cutter 9/11 method of terrorizing passengers was perfected first in that Nepali hijacked savagery.
The ransome money from the hijack was perhaps used for WTC massacre too. Even as we speak/write, many robberies of jewelry shops in India are taking place that might end up as funds supporting jihadi savagery in USA/UK/Europe.

Miriam Madam is as calm as I am and even cheerfully illuminating. If someone is perturbed or agitated easily from being weak minded, it is not her fault.

Truths if unpalatable are bitter. But some are more than bitter as they are shocking too. Such are the factual evidence from Asia generally and India specifically. I bet you did not know about all those riots quite unrelated to any Hindus who can roll with the punches and indeed "savage serial mass murders" unlike the Euro wuss.
Given the Euro naivete and apathy, I won't be surprised if partition of Europe befalls in Spain, Italy or France. Then, Indians will be saying this: "You need to find a political solution of your own, even if that means more partitioning."

Your sympathies are not what the poor and terrorized Indians want but rather cooperation and monetary support via a donor conference. That'd send a strong signal to the pakki fascists too. No one is lecturing anyone here.

Your mission is impossible if you continue to prefer being ill-informed and so too passive and naive..

Ambivalent India is playing both sides at the same time

Invite_jesus, again you present some valid points that I wholly sympathize / agree with. By the way, the reduced tone in this, your previous (18:34) post made it easier to read. Remember, good content also needs a good delivery. Ms. Miriam seems to be an intelligent & well-informed lady.

Personally, I am very well aware of how the Hindus have had to “roll with the punches” and then enact ritual revenge against those responsible. I also understand how Pakistan has been dragged into the Arab / Islamic imperialist camp by Saudi oil revenues. You and I know how much the Pakistan economy depends on repatriations from the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, et al.

Connections between terrorist acts in Nepal and the West are entirely feasible, and this is where Indians can really contribute to the debate. Although, let us not confuse Naxalite / Maoist acts with Al-Qaeda acts.

But, apart from correctly pointing out the existence of “Euro wuss,” I think you are venting some of your frustrations in the wrong direction. For example, why is India not offering to contribute military forces to the effort in Afghanistan? Actually I know the answer, but this is surely where the debate should be heading. It is not just the fear of angering its own Muslim population. Because India has taken cynical commercial advantage in the Middle East, at the expense of the West (along with its pressing need for oil) it cannot afford to engage fully in anti Islamist actions. Diplomatically, India also remains too close to Iran. Why? The Rajya & Lok Sabha have not yet seen India's chance to avenge 500 or more years of brutal Muslim savagery!

A plague on both their houses

I am in full agreement that the leaders of Western Europe are knuckling under to the Muslims both inside and out...however, that does not negate Israeli policy towards the Palestinians, Arabs, Lebanese, and Syrians. When can Israel be criticized, when 6 million of its "enemies" are dead?

I do not want to see Israel occupied or removed from the map. However, I do want to see a Palestinian sovereign state, and the Golan Heights returned to Syria.

I do not want to see Lebanese civilians killed or forced to flee their homes; nor do I want a great influx of them into Western countries.

Confusing no? I am neither secular leftist nor right-wing Christian...

Androgenous Political Views - How Fashionable?

Kapitein Andre ... from your post, a rather humerous image of you is not difficult to build. Unable to make up your mind about anything, you stand petrified, somewhere in the middle of every issue.

Must we presume you are also equally undecided in sexual matters? Neither hetrosexual or homosexual, but somewhere in between? How tiring for you.

Anything else that confuses you terribly and leaves you in an uncommitable state? Choosing your socks in the morning perhaps? Maybe you solve your dilemma by wearing a sock of one pair on one foot, and a mismatched sock on the other?

I feel sorry for you. What a sweet, pollyannaish world you wish for, where everything can come true at one and the same time, and everyone will be happy.

This isn't how the real world works, thank goodness, and its about time you grew up and realized this. Next time, try flipping a coin and then sticking to it.

kinda harsh.. kinda true

well that was kinda harsh.. but a good analogy.

people must come to terms with concrete realities, even those far removed from the immediate violence.

Kapitein Andre, you are not alone in your conflicting views and wishes. it is a confusing and messy situation.

Calm Down - We Don't Need Lectures from India

Miriam and invite_jesus … the two of you need to calm down and break off. Your way is not the way we debate issues here in European countries. I realize your Indian government has been clamping down hard on Indian blogger sites very recently. Perhaps this is why you have found your way over here?

Let me say I sympathize with much that you say, but not with its over-emotional and shrill tone. Some of us in Europe do pay attention to what is going on in India. We are not as ignorant as you seem to think.

I think it is about time you Indians dropped this hackneyed reference to Britain draining of India of its wealth. That is hogwash, which Americans fell for long ago. If it were not for the British and their Raj, your Muslim problem would be a lot worse than it is today.

Your constitution confirms you are a secular nation; and Islam will take advantage wherever it can. You are a big country. You need to find a political solution of your own, even if that means more partitioning. But, Indian Muslims are less of a problem than Islam itself. Attack the philosophy or creed of Islam without pause, but don’t pick on innocent Muslims just because they were unfortunate to have been born into it. Although, Arabs might be a different story.

@marcfrans

I followed the cartoon affair closely on US conservative blogs and noone wrote that the cartoons have been published in any major US outlet; in fact, they all complained that they had not been published. So I should be excused if I don't know that they have been published by Time and Newsweek.

Meanwhile, at Wikipedia, Time and Newsweek magazines are still missing from the list of publications that reprinted the cartoons. I encourage you to add the information about publication in Time and Newsweek in the Wikipedia entry.

Only two types..

Muslimes come in packed only in 2 types-
* "savage serial mass murderers" that India and indeed most other nations of the globe have witnessed largely originating in "fakistan's" hate mills;

* mafia extortion practiced by muslime communalists in the rest of the community.

and there is no moderate or nice kind at all.

Kudos and bravo to Miriam Madam whose endearing "my dear friend" appellations fell lost on wasted souls. I love her comments as below:
"What more factual evidence you want? Is the *evidence* not clear, compelling, concrete and overhwhelming?

Worst of all, most of these riots [*totally* unrelated to Sena or any Hindu or Hindu leaders] caused no large naturally expected backlash or revenge.

Not even "savage serial mass murders" by islamic blasts in temples of Varanasi, Gujarat Akshardam, Delhi markets, Bombay trains, buses, cinema halls..etc etc etc."

Yes her list of riots has been totally unrelated to any Hindu leader, entirely unconnected to any Hindu, completely with no link to any Hindu org.

You see how the domineering fascism of ugly muslimes shows up again and again riot after riot, century after century, naiton after nation.

The smiling muslime assassin, mohd ali jinah, caused many barbaric riots too during Raj period and called it DIRECT ACTION. Go figure who is hateful. All your spin, hype and Hitlerian lies are a mere hogwash.

Subversive perverts corrupting others?

Check your statement for fact-content [not fat content - quality not quantity, ie!], my dear friend! You have been around those islamofascists for too long, it seems like!

In dowry deaths, it is kerosene and not acid that is used, acid being the norm of the fascists in that whole region. Do google on this, as it takes just a few seconds!

Mr Belien is right! India has the maximal # of "unassimilated minority" left dumped on Hindus as an economic and criminal burden as the list of very *recent* riots categorically proves:
-> Riots for Bush visit
-> Riots for Daniush Cartoons
-> Foul remarks of Jerry Falwell
-> Riots for temporarily missing relics of islam in Kashmir in places far removed from Kashmir
-> Caliph driven riots during Gandhi's days
-> Riots for already banned books of Salman Rushdie and recently Nasreen etc etc etc.

What more factual evidence you want? Is the *evidence* not clear, compelling, concrete and overhwhelming?

Worst of all, most of these riots [*totally* unrelated to Sena or any Hindu or Hindu leaders] caused no large naturally expected backlash or revenge.

Not even "savage serial mass murders" by islamic blasts in temples of Varanasi, Gujarat Akshardam, Delhi markets, Bombay trains, buses, cinema halls..etc etc etc.

Your flippant and less than responsible remark about F-16 plane is a skewed one. They are getting it plus at least 3 bil and as much as 15 bil for everything put together. Case is closed.

@Miriam

Where, for God's sake does this deep seated viceral hate come from? Case is definitely closed.

Stating facts is rational!

My dear friend, I am merely stating facts rationally, not emotionally like u r using the 4 letter word abusively! It seems like u r not for closing the case as "spit and run antics" of islam does no one any good!

Blaming the victims!

Mr Traveller, Again, you are exposing your confused mind or is it ignorance or both? To top it all, You are flippant too, being not very responsible in your banal and puerile responses.

You q'd my tolerance. If Christians were tolerant, Saddam was fine, right? No one can be tolerant against liars and sadist killers that savage muslimes like Saddam are. If Christians were tolerant, none of holocaust, soviet purges, or crusades woyld have happened. Learn first Jesus was a student of meta-physics of India from where he got many of the lessons he later preached and evangelists like me preach.

To force the issue, you bring in, irrelevant facts like truck-drivers..etc that all are making Miriam's case stronger and yours weaker. Dont you see that?

Both poverty and long tradition of dowry system is causing a few occasional dowry deaths mostly among refugees from "fakistan". In contrast, acid throwing is the regional tool among the *muslimes*.

To pursue your logic (or lack of it) why do the turks in Germany murder by HONOR KILLING though they have nothing to do with Hindus? See how wrong you are!

"Indian political culture of the modern times" is largely a result of Western apathy and siding with the muslime savages. Ie why I have been advocating their conversion into Christian fold and its civilizing influence.

How foolish to think, the same muslim is ok in one part of the earth, but is an evil devil only in the West! They are evil whether in Thailand, Lanka, India, Phillipines or the West! It is from their book called Quran that teaches hate towards and mass murder of the infidels. So simple yet so hard for some to get it.

@invite jesus

Now I know where you are coming from, meta-physically speaking of course. Good bye sir or madam, your kind of hate is beyond my grasp.

Palestinians, arabs and non-arabs..

I like Palestinians, arabs and non-arabs..in that order! Last are the least trust-worthy as we see pakkis duping us on delivering binLaden as our "key ally" despite getting truckload of our money.
In contract, the Serbs have delivered a whole lot more and yet we have done very lil for the Serbs, the Christians.

In ref to, "Unfortunately the peaceful Muslims are silent with few exceptions. Why? They risk their lives or exclusion from the Muslim community. Self-preservation is a motivation that I can understand. However, it is only them that can truely save the world from spiraling into another World War.

Where is that peaceful Muslim leader that will encourage people by the thousands to march against all those terrorist groups out there creating chaos for not only Westerners but other muslims?" I must say that the moderates are less 20% and are also complicit in this drama as activie supporters of jihadi savagery. Every muslime journo writes, "If you gives us more money, our youths would be leave you in peace!!" as if such yielding and appeasement is gonna make 100% peace guarantee! I see it as mafia intimidation and extortion racket. We have given tons of money.

It has worked. They have won time after time. But we have not fully bought peace yet, as we are asked to pay gazillion more installments and zillion more payments till all our children perish. And only their children remain. [one other thing, they use stoning/lynching and burning as tools too, as Ganesh festivities are lynched year after year in Bombay and other parts of India; a train car load of women and children were burnt alive in Godhra, near Bombay. For one unused bldg in ruins called 'babri', they caused deaths of >1788 innocent civilians].

@Miriam

Because I think you are honestly convinced of what you are saying I will give you a last piece of information:
In the late seventies, under pressure of the Russian-Afghan war, Pakistan made a contract with General Dynamics for the delivery of 44 F-16 aircraft, with the approval of the U.S. executive. Pakistan paid 1,6 billion U.S.$. Meanwhile the Israeli and Indian lobbies had been working hard and the U.S. Congress blocked the deal and refused an export permit for the planes, of course after receiving the money. General Dynamics made the planes and put them in the mothballs. Until this very day Pakistan never received either the planes or the money. Is this the bucketloads of money the pakki's received perhaps. To complete the joke U.S. Congress is debating today if they will "allow" Pakistan to sign a new contract for F-16 planes, of course with new payments up front.

Global scale of islamofascism - old case of India

If we wanna learn abt islamofascism, it is simple. Simply study the old case of India. How the fascists have been gradually using every trick in the books to rob, rape and riot (3R tactics as known in India). Mr Belien's ref to "ongoing vandalism in France’s lost neighbourhoods" is an off-shoot of this global drama.

Traveler, I am afraid I am with invite_jesus on this one. Church burning, acid attacks are additonal tools they use besides 3R tactics in and around India. Do a 'google' search on acid throwing that is commonly used in bangladesh, afghan and pakki lands besides India.

Indians in general and Hindus in particular are being persecuted [like shiites of iraq, like blacks under apartheid] for one more century 'cos the brits goofed [as we do currently] as they did in palestine, iraq...etc.

Mr Gordon Brown wants to donate tons of money to africa instead of India whom the brits plundered as the "jewel" of their empire despite the poverty level and AIDS level is just as serious in India [70% of Indians are poor acg to Bush's figures that said 30% are middle class already buying mostly western goods - 1 bil - 30 = 70!]. Case closed!

Miriam

If you are English without roots or family in India I will excuse your ignorance. If you are Indian or of Indian roots I can understand but not excuse you.
Acid throwing and burning wives are hindu inventions for wives who did not pay the remainder of the dowry or of jealous lovers. Burning wives is a very common hindu pass-time and I am not flippant, it goes by the thousands per week over the Indian continent. The muslims took over this "tradition" for girls who were in love with people the family did not approve of, but it is and remains a remnant of hindu "culture".
I had to interfere with a Gujerati hindu family in just such a case of a partially unpaid dowry and I can assure you I was horrified by the mother in law's behaviour.
As for aids you are really catching my interest now. In 1989 I visited with a doctor of the Salvation Army a street in Bombay called Falkland's. Do you know it? In a street of approx. 500 meter there were 75000 prostitutes who were randomly checked for aids by the doctor.
80 % had aids. The price for one f... was 5 to 10 Rs.(10 to 20 dollarcents). Their main customers were the Sikh truckdrivers who control the Indian roadtransport nearly 100 %.
Result: through the truckdrivers the whole of India got infected.
The Salvation Army wanted to do something about this but was forbidden by the Bombay municipality and the Maharashtra State to even talk about it.
And if you talk about Indian political culture of the modern times, don't forget the shiv senna of Bal Thakeray who works with Arun Gawli and before he died with Amar Naik, 2 old buddies of Dawood Ibrahim.
Sorry, I will stop here but I cannot chose between muslim and hindu culture today.

Meglomaniacs and Ralph Kramden

Amsterdamsky:

While I am not religious either, I do believe in religion.  Religion does provide solace for many people, whether they are Christian, Jewish, Hindu and yes, even Muslim.

It is not the 'religion' per se, but religious leaders who from time to time go off on a meglomaniac, religious zeal and take their adherents with them.

Mission Impossible:

I believe that radical feminism is an off-shoot of the leftist ideaology of late 60's, 70's and 80's.

That being said, I do not believe that all feminism is bad.

Why do I visualize you as Ralph Kramden from the Honeymooners?

@traveller - do unto others

Then came Christ and told everybody: DO UNTO EACH OTHER AS YOU WANT THEM TO DO TO YOURSELF. I have enough with that one phrase. I don't care if Christ was born of a virgin or is the son of God. This one sentence is not traceable to any other religion or philosophy and if you don't understand that this is the start of democracy and real socialism than you go back to kindergarten.

I don't want to start an argument on this, but what do you call

"thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" (Leviticus 19:18)

Or

"That which is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor." (Hillel, 1st Century BCE).

Hillel's version, which is given in the passive, seems to be more the essence of democracy than Jesus's more active version. You are allowed to do whatever you wish as long as it does not impinge on your neighbor's (fellow, etc) rights and privileges.

And you call my posts a collection of idiocies.  I have never met a Palestinian I didn't like.  They have been very good immigrants in the US and have assimilated very well.

Traveler's Comment was Accurate

Amsterdamsky ... about Travelers comment: "I never met a Palestinian I liked and for your information, no other educated muslim likes them either" ... is actually correct, and I would second it.

I have spent about 10 years of my life in the Middle East and have dealt with many Palestinians. The only word change(s) I would have made if I had authored it would be:

"I never met a Palestinian I could trust, and for your information, no other educated muslim likes them either."

Palestinians can live & work in Arab countries for 20 years or more, but are still afforded very few rights and privileges. Gulf and Peninsula Arabs discriminate against Palestinians ... and that is a FACT whether you like it or not.

Furthermore, they dislike Black African muslims also. Blacks suffer racial discrimination even during the Hajj.

@Amsterdamsky

So you were lucky to meet the good ones. Of course you didn't read the rest of my comment.

Still Difficult Decisions to Make. Time to Regain Our Manhood.

Mr. Hanson habitually writes powerful pieces; this one may be considered one of his classics. Some thoughts.

With the Mujahedin’s victory in Afghanistan, the formation of al-Qaida, and establishment of Iran’s Islamic republic, Islam declared war on the rest of the word. That’s a quarter century ago. We have some catching up to do.

The mainstream media is in economic trouble, and they have reacted by disseminating yet more hysterical leftism; thus conforming to Einstein’s theory on insanity.

Women have to be distanced from the political process, because the female gender has been the main conduit for the spread of left-liberal passivity we now find ourselves mired in. Feminist ideology must be eradicated. Western Men must regain their authority.

To see the machinations of Islam as it really is, in other words, to call a Muslim spade a spade, invites the rapid dissolution of the whole Left-Liberal world view. Bringing an end to Muslim expansionism promises dire consequences for US Democrats, Britain’s New Labour, and all their equivalents in Europe. The demise will be presaged by the total rejection of multiculturalism. Like a rambling rose, the remainder will quickly be overrun. Therefore, to preach peace is a matter of political survival for these left-liberals.

Left-liberalism is a mental disease, and not a cohesive philosophy. It is the suspension of reality; the desire to live life in a pink gold-fish bowl.

The official motto of New Hampshire is: Live Free or Die. Those of you who oppose the madness should watch more Samurai movies. We all die someday. It is far better to choose the moment & method of death yourself. We must become the unmerciful destroyers so that our sons & daughters may know freedom.

Red Ken or Mad Mel?

Mission Impossible:

You had me sold until this statement:

"Women have to be distanced from the political process, because the female gender has been the main conduit for the spread of left-liberal passivity we now find ourselves mired in. Feminist ideology must be eradicated. Western Men must regain their authority."

Sorry, but it sounds a bit Talibanish.

Aren't most of the European politicos male? And I believe all were pre WWII?

I'm not trying to be politically correct here, but it is the far left in general that has caused most of these problems, be they male or female. After all, Ken Livingstone, the mayor of London, is happily supporting Hezbollah...is he not? Perhaps you should distance him from the political process and promote Melanie Phillips, as she seems to have the biggest balls in England!

http://www.melaniephillips.com/diary/

Clarifying the Subversive Feminist Conduit

'truth serum,' yep, I know what you mean. I shall clarify best I can in the space allowed.

First, I am a big fan of Melanie Phillips. She is a real woman, and a heroine.

I think you will agree, Feminism isn’t really about women; many feminists are male. If you go back to the literature of the 1970s & 80s you will see women (feminist) authors and opinion writers peddling exactly the subversive ‘stuff’ that has entrenched itself in London, New York, Brussels, et al since. With missionary zeal they promoted cultural-Marxist ideology for all they were worth. It was highly profitable for them. The largest conduits (outside of our Universities) were: day-time TV, radio drama, and women’s / girl’s magazines. The largest audience for these conduits were obviously women. Singapore banned 'Cosmopolitan' for many years.

I gave up dating Englishwomen during the 1980s when I suddenly realized their brains had all been stamped with the same script. I have only known Asian/Indian women since. Wonderful.

It doesn’t matter if most of the Euro politicos are male. If they are Left-Wing, they already have both ears cocked towards female opinion. Gay males also promote the same, as their world only exists so long as the feminist world-view is upheld as mainstream. Mandelson is gay, as are many others. Remember the Snr. European commissioner who was sacked for non-PC thoughts about gays?

Obsession: What The War on Terror Is Really About
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6162397493278181614&q=Obsession%3A+What+The+War+on+Terror+Is+Really+About&hl=en

@truth serum

I told you up front that I wanted to introduce a moment of reflection. Since I don't want to be misunderstood, here goes a little bit of my inner feelings:
I know personally the biggest Afghan gangsters from the time they were cherished by the U.S. It is one thing to say here in a blog that one doesn't like extreme islam, it is another thing to knock out an "officer" of Hizb-Islam in front of his boss Hikmatyar Gulbuddin (the biggest gangster in Afghanistan) and to call him a liar and coward. Since I am writing this I must have survived the episode. This only to situate myself. I also wrote an essay for one U.S. intelligence service, at their request, and foretold them in 1982 in 53 pages exactly what is happening today. I also called Bill Casey an idiot for supporting Sayaf and Gulbuddin. The service never forgave me. But... I also met other people and many and when I read unnuanced texts insinuating that 1 billion muslims are evil I try to balance the argument because I know what's living amongst the muslim intelligentia. The majority of the muslim elite is terrorized by muslim extremism and looks for help but we should listen. We need to create a mutual trust with people who count because we can simply not erradicate 20 % of humanity. I read before that Paul Belien has muslim friends in Turkey so he should know something about this topic.
As for the Palestinian video you asked me to watch, I am not surprised, I never met a Palestinian I liked and for your information, no other educated muslim likes them either.

Peaceful Muslim leader?

Traveller:

I think we agree on more than we disagree.

I am not advocating that the West go out and kill a billion muslims. Far from it.

Unfortunately the peaceful Muslims are silent with few exceptions. Why? They risk their lives or exclusion from the Muslim community. Self-preservation is a motivation that I can understand. However, it is only them that can truely save the world from spiraling into another World War.

Where is that peaceful Muslim leader that will encourage people by the thousands to march against all those terrorist groups out there creating chaos for not only Westerners but other muslims?

Someone has to step up and soon, for the world will have no choice but to divide up into an Us aganst Them camp.

@truth serum

Let's shake hands on that, but don't dispair quite a few people agree with me and you would be surprised who.

hear, hear!

Hurray for VDH!  However, it's a bit rich for him to talk about European cartoonists, when almost every country in continental Europe published the Mohammed cartoons, and the USA did not.

see, see!

@ Snorri Godhi

It is true that the 'Danish cartoons' were not shown in the major ('traditional') naive-left media of the New York Times, The Washington Post, etc... That is understandable, since they are hypocritical and also tend to propagate the false culture of selective victimisation.

But the cartoons were shown in a variety of other US media outlets, e.g. Time, Newsweek, etc... so that your observation needs some qualification. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me at all if VDH himself saw them first in an American medium rather than a European one.

Deja Vu all over again

Amsterdamsky:

Despite your claim of...."I feel ALL relgions are a threat to the way I would like to live my life." you constantly attack Christianity.

As you often do with many of the articles you dislike here and elsewhere, you never address the point of the article, but try and redirect it's readers off into another direction.

It does not matter what Christianity once was.  What matters now is how Islam is affecting the world today...........which comes back to the point of Professor Hanson's commentary.

We are on the brink of another World War where millions of people are going to die because the West is making all the same mistakes again!

@Paul Belien and truth serum

At this stage I want to introduce a moment of reflection:
please go to google, than to: ardeshir cowasjee. You will arrive on the site of the best journalist in Pakistan, writing in Dawn,the best English newspaper in Pakistan, owned by a highly educated and free minded Shia family. Cowasjee is Parsee and a monument in Pakistan. After reading Cowasjee, go to the table on the left side of the text and click on Ajaz Amir, than on Irfan Husain and after that on letters. Doing that you will have a real feeling of what lives in the educated mind of top level muslims in their daily lives. If we can't kill them all we should try to understand them and find a solution which will be nearly impossible but we have to try.

Call me new fashioned but

call me new fashioned but I feel ALL relgions are a threat to the way I would like to live my life.  When you say jews or christians are the good guys and muslims the bad guys or vice versa I have to point out that they are essentially sects of the same religion and none have done anything other than put the brakes on scientific progress, free speech and democracy.  Don't forget that before Constantine and the subsequent fall of Rome and the Dark Ages all of Europe was pagan.  Democracy came from Greece and not Judea.

Case in point from the Catholic Encyclopedia http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/04295c.htm:

"Constantine can rightfully claim the title of Great, for he turned the history of the world into a new course and made Christianity, which until then had suffered bloody persecution, the religion of the State. It is true that the deeper reasons for this change are to be found in the religious movement of the time, but these reasons were hardly imperative, as the Christians formed only a small portion of the population, being a fifth part in the West and the half of the population in a large section of the East. Constantine's decision depended less on general conditions than on a personal act; his personality, therefore, deserves careful consideration.

Long before this, belief in the old polytheism had been shaken; in more stolid natures, as Diocletian, it showed its strength only in the form of superstition, magic, and divination. "

They negect, of course, to add science for which later christians persecuted, executed and banned thus setting the course for the stagnation of europe until the Protestant Reformation and subsequent wars against the Catholic south that gave science and democracy (and I would add free enterprise) some breathing room once again.

@Anglicus

Sorry, seen it, been there, same bullshit, but it would take me a month to answer all the idiocies in the film and I am not that interested anymore in the leftist gospel of nihilism and negation of self.

@Amsterdamsky

Always the same collection of idiocies.
The greeks invented the name of democracy for a precious elite.
Religion and the science of religion is still immature. Ca. 15000 years ago something happened in Sumer, the Indus valley and China which created the thinking, writing and calculating human with a sense of a Superior Being in their mind's eye. The divine stories the humans then told each other were stories they could understand in simple words and transfer to future generations. What really happened we don't know but we will when science advances. That the followers of Christ are human and make human mistakes of greed, murder, slavery etc. etc. was also foreseen by Christ and is not due to his teachings but to human weakness.
