...my fit of hysterical laughter, I have to put forth the question to Mr. Soros......Sir, surely there is something else you could be spending your kabillions of $$$$$ on instead of the promotion and implimentation of world socialism and tyrannical prostilization???.....Not to mention the restrictions on freedom of speech in your "open society?"........Ah, if only I had this man's money!!!!.......;-)........
In the Eurobserver.com article, Soros stated: "But although he added that "to try and force [the constitution] through people's throats now" would spark fresh popular resistance, Mr Soros also expressed support for key reforms introduced in the charter designed to make the union function more efficiently.
He proposed that the constitution be "unbundled and presented piecemeal," with priority to be given to simplifying the EU's decision-making process which he said is "urgent" for the bloc to act more effectively on the world stage."
Doing it piecemeal Soros?
Wise move which reminds me of a tale I heard.
If you put a frog in boiling water, he'll jump out.
But if you put a frog in cool water and SLOWLY turn up the heat, he'll cook!!!
EU open society? I see this "open society" restricting free speech and press!! I see a "open society" where in Germany parents can't home school, but are sentenced to jail and/or kids removed under a law originally enacted by Hitler, for the state demands that it is the state's right to indoctrinate children with their "belief system".
I see an "open society" that is ever increasingly being ruled by the "elite" in Brussels and/or EU leadership who are increasingly being accountable or answerable to no one. I see an "open society" ruled by elitist bureaucrats who think they know better.
If the EU is an "open society" it is a society open to virtually everything that is wrong and destructive to individual liberty and freedom.
I don't see an "open society" I see the rise of tyranny.
I bet if we ever sat down over a "cold for me not warm" mug of English beer/ale in a quaint English pub (they still do exist don't they), we would probably find that we have alot more in common that we realized.
George Soros sees himself as a sort of Georgi Plekhanov holding court about how Europe should be run. Really he has tried to find a purpose in life rather late and forgotten that rich men can buy politicians, but rarely can rich men persuade people or voters.

An interesting link with an alternate view of Mr. Soros is at: http://www.freedomdomain.com/soros01.html
Someone with his money has to be a target- then again, maybe we are his target.
Ok...now that I am over....
