A quote from John Stossel in his Creators Syndicate column, 8 August 2007
The fall of the Soviet Union deprived us of the biggest example of how socialism works. We need laboratories of failure to demonstrate what socialism is like. All we have now is Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, the U.S. Post Office, and state motor-vehicle departments.

That john Stossel column is widely noted in the area of the blogosphere I inhabit. You see, I live in Wisconsin. The bill has no chance of enactment for a change Assembly Republicans are standing up against runaway spending.
Still, all the demagogues are out in full force. Michael Moore is now "dispassionate" observer & expert on medical economics.

Don't think you have to look too far really. Communism is still cool down south of the Rhine. Seing that unemployment in Belgium was 13% last I looked Wallonia is probably more like "eastern europe" than eastern europe is.
Here's some more sarcasm for ya!
