The Marxism of Our Time

A quote from Theodore Dalrymple at the City Journal blog, 17 September 2007

It is impossible to know how many such German converts [to Islam] there are, but it is thought to run into tens of thousands, principally men; in the nature of things, it is also uncertain how many of them are attracted to extremism, but few people are so attracted by moderation that they are converted by it.

The man believed to be the leader of the little group, Fritz G., the son of a doctor and an engineer, was himself a student of engineering, of mediocre attainment. […] His fellow conspirator, Daniel S., came from a well-off family and converted early in life to radical Islam. […] Had Fritz G. and Daniel S. grown up a generation earlier, they would have become members of the Baader-Meinhof Gang rather than Islamic extremists. The dictatorship of the proletariat, it seems, has given way before the establishment of the Caliphate as the transcendent answer to some German youths’ personal angst.

Re: Mike H.

"...Moreover, not only did the poetry grow more immoral, but the immorality grew more indefensible. Greek vices, oriental vices, hints of the old horrors of the Semitic demons began to fill the fancies of decaying Rome, swarming like flies on a dung heap. The psychology of it is really human enough to anyone who will try that experiment of seeing history from the inside. There comes an hour in the afternoon when the child is tired of 'pretending'; when he is weary of being a robber or a Red Indian. It is then that he torments the cat. There comes a time in the routine of an ordered civilisation when the man is tired at playing at mythology and pretending that a tree is a maiden or that the moon made love to a man. The effect of this staleness is the same everywhere; it is seen in all drug-taking and dram-drinking and every form of the tendency to increase the dose. Men seek stranger sins or more startling obscenities as stimulants to their jaded sense. They seek after mad oriental religions for the same reason. They try to stab their nerves to life, if it were with the knives of the priests of Baal. They are walking in their sleep and try to wake themselves up with nightmares."

@Mark E.

Mark, you should be proud.  Walk with your head high, in the knowledge that your ancestors help spread democracy.  Fought and died to help free the oppressed.  You should be proud of your Royal Navy and Army and Air Force and Marines.  And your father for teaching you to work for yourself, not let the state do it for you.

All of you Europeans, lift you head high.

If you need a challenge, if you need a wild west, if you need a bold, new frontier, then I give you one: saving your culture, your faith, your countries, and your families.

Be proud of you European heritage, whether it be British or Italian.

Be proud to Christian, be it Catholic or Protestant.

Be proud of your militaries, and if you are in your countries military, walk with the knowledge that you are your country's warrior.

Be proud to be a man, always.

You want a challenge?  Save your people, defend your families, praise your savior, Jesus Christ (yes, I said Jesus Christ on a European website), and raise your children to be brave.

"Once abolish the God, and the government becomes the God." - GK Chesterton

Monica, I never said to

Monica, I never said to sexually harrass women in the workplace.

As usual, sophist attempts by the Socialists/Communists to stretch the truth, then turn it on its head.   But of course, no matter what my response will be, you will run away screaming that you read a post from Nazi racist advocating rape.

Truth to you is disposable.  You don't need it.  All you need is anything to make you look right.

Questions for Kapitein André

In your opinion why would a German man or any European man convert to Islam?

Where did you read that millions of Muslims are converting to Christianity?

In one of your posts you once said that civil war in Europe is inevitable. Do you expect those who converted to Christianity to fight alongside native Europeans or do you think that ethnicity is stronger than religious affiliation?

Theodore Dalrymple: It is impossible to know how many such German converts [to Islam] there are, but it is thought to run into tens of thousands, principally men; in the nature of things, it is also uncertain how many of them are attracted to extremism, but few people are so attracted by moderation that they are converted by it. I gather that the number of German converts to Islam is roughly 4,000 a year. However, the number of Muslim converts to Christianity runs in the millions and even in Germany dwarfs Islamic conversion. Moreover, it is a major leap to link radical leftism with Islam given that the former is so indelibly...German, and the latter so foreign. Furthermore, the statistically insignificant number of European or White (non-Balkan) converts to Islam is such that it is virtually impossible to draw any meaningful conclusions other than that new converts always have "something to prove".

enough b.s. bd

Of-course the fact that women detest being sexually harassed in the workplace emasculates men, as now they have nothing to 'challenge' them in their pursuit of 'glory' which leads them to convert to islam......

Are you a practising Christian?

Give us back our pride!

While agreeing with Mike H I feel there is another factor at play; if I convert to Islam I am allowed, encouraged even, to be proud of that fact and to boast about it.  This is not something I am supposed to be doing in any other sphere.

I shouldn't be proud of being English and of the Royal Navy's role in ending the Atlantic slave trade or of the country's contribution to literature, because that is "nationalism" (it is actually patriotism, but one cannot expect those who use the term to understand the difference).

In the same way the German men Dalrymple refers to are not permitted be proud of their country's role in the defeat of Napolean (Europe's first totalitarian dictator) or its contribution to music.

My late father once boasted "I may have had some crap jobs in my life, but I have always supported my own family, and I never had to ask for handouts".  Today he would be called a fool because sucking on the nipple of the state is the only repectable life.  We cannot take a pride in what used to be the role of a man for fear we "stigmatise" those who will not fulfill that role.

I am supposed to be ashamed of being a European male; is it any wonder that some carry that to its logical concusion and choose to become something else?  Something they are allowed to be proud of?

For myself I shall do something different; I am proud to be a European male and will say so whenever asked.  European culture is the greatest in the world and, on balance, the world is a better place because past European males made it that way.

converts islam

I think there are different reasons why people convert:
1. christians who feel that they don't get enough respect in our society, they feel constantly mocked and threatened. Thats why they change from a christian social structure to an islamic social structure where they are repected for being religious.
2. People who marry a muslim and convert because the family/sharia demands it
3. people with a criminal history who frequent a lot of morrocan/arabic people and integrate in that criminal invironment, most of them aren't very smart
4. communists that after the disorientation/failure of the left found a new powerfull tool for their anti-kapitalism/anti-nationalism/anti-christianism: islam. A new face for tesame old perverted sentiments.

But the main problem is ofcourse not those four points, but our sick society that promotes feminine values where we need masculine values, and that promotes self-destruction instead of self-defence. Nietzsche is crying in his grave.

Thanks Mike H. 3

Men need challenges.  But your current governments frown upon the masculine.  It isn't that bad in the United States yet.  But I would suggest that you men change your tone.  Does that mean being a little less kind or respectful about certain things.  Yes, it does.  But men NEED to be men.  Men NEED purpose.  Well, since it was primarily men who built your cultures and countries, act like the rightful descendants you should be.  Act like the proper heir's to the throne.

Don't be ashamed to have a martial spirit, a little cowboy swagger, or a little barbarian tone.  Don't steer you boys away from the military.  Remember:  as boys they look to you as their role model.  Don't mold them to be subservient or a conquering people.

You have everything there to solve this.  Stand up for yourselves EVERY TIME.  Fight back, and raise your boys well... they may be defending your homelands from suicide bombers... or they could join them.

Thanks Mike H. 2

So why does it seem that a general malaise, a sickening if you will that has weakened the body of our Civilization for the past 30-40 years.  Is it truly that almost no frontiers are left to be pushed, passed, conquered, or mastered?  Have we, our generation and the previous 'Hippie' generation been possibly resentful of that 'Greatest Generation', that literally saved our World from the Nazi's, the Fascists, and the East's Imperialist's?

Think about it:  we've all heard the stories... they first survived the Great Depression, then World War II, then fought to save Korea, then rebuilt the battle scarred World, fed there starving populations, then built rocket-ships that carried us to space and beyond.  Generally speaking, it wasn't entirely there generation that did it all, but, by and large, it was mostly there work and there leadership.  They provided the most bountiful table any population of regular citizenry has ever had the priviledge to sit to, save Rome or Victorian England.

So, the succeeding generations have drifted.  Not all at once though.  Visions of something akin to a new Enlightenment gripping them, the Peace Corps was a source to turn to.  But peace the key word.  They had probably heard from veterans the old adage "War is Hell".  Maybe, what they needed to hear was "... but necessary sometimes."  Vietnam came, and so followed student riots across America and Europe.  Think of how important a young person would feel, 'sticking it to the man', or 'burning there draft card'.  What we got in the end?  Millions in Vietnam dead... after American troops left and Socialism that has swept and entrenched itself in Europe.

So today we have... more protests, political correctness and Islam.  If you feel you absolutely need to make your mark on history, you can.  You can protest and say in 20 years 'I protested American soldiers and spit on them', or 'I sued a company because a manager was looking at my breasts'.  Or 'I be-headed human being, for Allah.'

Sometime's I think how men can no longer be men.  It was men who created the Legion's, flags, Armies, honor, Knights, Countries.  Football, baseball, basketball.  Men were men and there was nothing to be ashamed of.  You wouldn't be taken to a court of law.

Men, and the West, we have both fallen.  We must lift up ourselves again, and never be ashamed of what men created, namely our countries.  We must never be ashamed to walk like men, speak rough like men, whistle at beautiful women.  Never, ever be ashamed to say 'You run like a girl'.

8 years ago, I joined my Army (United States).  I have never regretted it.  It turned my head away from the feminized society of today to the masculine society of yesterday.  I have never reverted back to my civilian ways since.  I may be called on again by my Army to fight.  I don't know.  But that's ok, I owe that organization for teaching me what my schools never did.  How to be a man and not be ashamed of it.  (see above)

Thanks Mike H. 1

Mike H.

I think you hit on something tangible here.  For a while, a few months now actually, I've thought of something like what you've said.  Thank you very much for saying it because you've helped me dramatically focus my thoughts on it more.

You've used the words 'frontier', 'challenge', and 'glory'.  Psychologically speaking, these words speak to men.  It's been (usually, anyway), men who had to tame the wilderness, secure there families.  Men who built nations, discovered far-off lands.  Men of the Roman Legions who fought off the Persians as did the Spartans.  Men of Charles Martel's Army that stopped the Islamic Invaders from conquering France.

Frontiers included the sciences.  Imagine inventing the telephone and speaking through it the first time.  Or listening to the radio you invented.  Charles Lindbergh landing at Le Bourget field.  The Wright Brothers, immortal for 12 seconds.

All of you probably know some family members who hid in the forest, to fight off the Nazi's.  American grandfathers who stepped off of landing boats in the face of machine gun, mortar, and artillery fire at far-flung places such as Normandy, Iwo Jima, and Saipan.  British pilots who never, ever gave up when they knew they were the last line of defense for there country-men.

Imagine being Neil Armstrong.  Pilot, Astronaut.  Then opening a door, climbing down a ladder and being the first Human Being to touch the Moon's face.

In our collective histories, we have inflicted great crimes, horrible injustices, and the worst.  Mass slaughter of our fellow man.  But we have, and I say this unashamedly, have been a light to the world.  Breathtaking advances in all frontiers.  Men of the West have been saviors, from bailing out fellow nations, feeding the starving, and laying down our lives for others.(see below)

There are no frontiers.

There are no readily accessible frontiers for people to push past or challenge. There are a small number of men who need a major challenge and the frontiers that we have today are only accepting a limited number of explorers. Not everyone can be an astronaut or live in a sub sea environment, so the only frontier is a new religion, all the better if it offers the activity that's involved in confrontation. A cheap path to glory as it were.

Marxism of our time

"The dictatorship of the proletariat, it seems, has given way before the establishment of the Caliphate as the transcendent answer to some German youths’ personal angst."

There is a good dose of ill used idealism behind terrorism. Having idealism and a desire to change things is not pathological. On the contrary, it's great. But the media, the teachers and bogus intellectuals are channeling the idealism of young Europeans into the wrong causes (cause #1: mass immigration to Europe).

I wish young European idealists would join the immigration resistance movement !

Marxism of our time

Terrorism embedded in nihilism under an islamic pretext.

The products of the abortion/euthanasia society, killing is no problem for a good cause or for comfort.

Those are the results.
